UV technology has been used in the printing industry by more than 95% of users on narrow-web self-adhesive web machines, 75% on forms printing web machines and 12% on flat-sheet format web pages. ● UV drying system

The UV drying system produces physical drying by thermal energy. Basically, the dry reaction is to evaporate the volatile materials. This energy comes from infrared or hot gas. Evaporation of volatile substances by heat causes the thickness of the dried coating to become thin, and these volatile substances will be carried away by the suction device.

The chemical drying reaction by UV is the continuous linking of molecules, and the energy is provided by UV radiation. Since the molecular chains are continuously linked by polymerization, no constituent molecules are lost, so the thickness of the coating layer does not change.

● Influence of UV polymerization

UV drying chemistry also requires heat. Depending on the material being printed, the paper table temperature should ideally be between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius. The traditional and UV-sharing ink roller is not easy to control. After each washing, it must be washed with UV ink at least once more. The new ink roller must stay on the UV ink and then wash the ink roller system overnight.

If several lamps can be selected, it is recommended to use one full open 100% instead of two 50% each.

In addition, poor quality paper can reduce productivity.

● Requirements for plastic printed materials

Plastic printing requires the use of special UV inks. In order to make the UV ink more perfect, we must test its scratch resistance, viscosity and degree of drying, the test methods are: 1. Use the thumb pressure and squeak; 2. Use a nail to scrape the dried imprint; 3. Use Soak the solvent in the cloth and dry the printed pattern. 4. Print the product first and then test it with adhesive tape. The surface tension of plastics must be greater than or equal to 38mN/m. We can use the test ink to measure the surface tension. The printed material must be clean. For example, use alcohol to test for softeners, lubricants, etc. In addition, the manipulation of flume liquid supply and dampening water can affect the printing ability but alcohol can be improved.

● Dry output

The drying of the UV ink is related to the strength and temperature of the lamp tube and impurities on the printed material. The intensity of the energy that affects the lamp includes: the wattage of the lamp, the distance between the lamp and the printed material. In terms of temperature, the Acrylate coating is not particularly sensitive to temperature changes. However, in general, too large a temperature difference will affect the drying effect: high temperatures will reduce the viscosity, and low temperatures will slow the drying effect. If the impurities on the printed matter are not caused by normal operation, this situation can be controlled, for example, dusting, different brands of flume liquid; in order to ensure high drying quality, the work must be strictly enforced. For example: clean the lamp and reflector every week; clean the air compressor and filter every month; replace it if necessary; check the water pressure on a monthly basis; clean the fan blades every six months; clean the heat exchanger every six months Dust protection cover; annual inspection of corrosion inhibitors in the water circulation system.

● Comparison of UV gloss

The gloss of the printing unit is over 65GP; the gloss of waterborne gloss is over 75GP; the gloss of UV glaze with traditional ink is more than 85GP; the gloss of UV gloss is more than 95 with UV ink.

● Cautions when using UV technology

1. Control the temperature of the roller to keep it at 28 degrees Celsius. 2. The material of printed film must be equipped with static electricity. 3. The surface tension of the film material must be greater than or equal to 38 dyne. 4. Reduce layout water as much as possible. 5. The surface of the blanket must be very smooth, and the hardness depends on whether the material is rough or not. (The rougher it is, the softer it is). 6. The coating solution is recommended to use 80-90 DIN 4S on paper with poor quality, and 44 DIN 4S on paper with good quality. 7. It is recommended to use BASF or Cyre glazing when polishing.
