Pure water bottle with PET

Ordinary PET is generally not suitable for a 5 gallon refillable water bottle because of the high rate of crystallization, which results in large crystals in the thick part of the parison, causing high haze. To increase transparency and provide a PET suitable for heavy-walled bottles, Sabic introduced the BC113, which competes with glass and PC resins. The new material has a good drop impact strength, scratch resistance over PC bottles, and it is important that it is cheaper than PC. The polymer is produced by continuous melt polymerization and solid state polymerization and is a high molar mass, semi-crystalline product. Its high intrinsic viscosity makes the produced PET bottles have good physical properties, the slow crystallization rate makes the containers optically transparent, and the low acetaldehyde content makes the bottled water taste good.
