MEET THE TUBULAR TREE HOUSE BY AIBEK ALMASSOV – A visionary architectural concept by Kazakh designer Aibek Almassov is finally taking shape, as new investors have come on board. The design, called "Tree in the House," features a transparent, cylindrical glass structure that encloses a mature fir tree at its core. This unique treehouse aims to offer an escape from urban life, blending modern architecture with nature in a breathtaking way.
Originally conceived in 2013, the project faced delays when initial investors backed out. However, recent interest from a company specializing in glass and solar panels has brought the idea closer to reality. According to Almassov, the construction is now more feasible than ever. “The real challenge was finding the right investor,†he said. “Now we’ve found two, and negotiations are ongoing.â€
The design envisions a tubular structure nestled in a forest clearing, with upper levels extending above the treetops. While the location is flexible, the main goal is to create a peaceful retreat that connects people with nature. “This project is about offering an alternative to the busy city life,†Almassov explained. “It combines modern design with the beauty of the natural world, without harming the environment.â€

Inside, the building features four narrow, ring-shaped floors connected by a spiraling white staircase that wraps around the central tree. Glazed balustrades with wooden railings ensure unobstructed views from every level. “Climbing the stairs can be seen as a journey of spiritual growth and harmony with nature,†Almassov noted. The design also includes a fully glass shower and furniture that follows the curved walls, creating a seamless blend of form and function.
Almassov’s firm, A Masow Architects, has previously designed other innovative projects, such as a house balancing over a hillside in Kazakhstan. Like "Tree in the House," these designs aim to provide a tranquil escape from the noise of modern life.
