When it comes to material selection for wooden box packaging, the primary structural components should be made from tree species such as larch, masson pine, Ziyun pine, white pine, or eucalyptus wood—each offering similar mechanical properties. The moisture content of these main force components should not exceed 25%, while the moisture level in other parts like the box panels should remain below 20%. Proper moisture control is crucial to prevent warping, cracking, or weakening of the structure during transit.

Material Requirements

The main structural elements and box panels must not contain more than five knots or live joints within a 1000 mm length. Additionally, they must be free from defects such as decay, through cracks, splits, insect damage, mildew, or blunt edges. These imperfections can compromise the integrity of the packaging and lead to product damage during shipping.

Manufacturing Process

Joint connections on the box panels need to be tight and secure, ensuring a flat and aligned fit between the box and its panels. Nails should be placed reasonably to maintain stability. A minimum of two reinforcing tapes are required to add extra strength. The printing on the packaging must be clear and legible, with the commodity inspection code accurately marked to facilitate customs inspections and compliance checks.

Manufacturers also emphasize that the base height of wooden boxes should be greater than 9 cm, as standard forklifts have a lifting height of about 8 cm. This ensures ease of handling and transportation. When selecting the thickness of the boards, the weight of the goods must be taken into consideration—thicker planks are necessary for heavier items. For machinery and equipment, it's recommended to use wooden bars inside the box to securely fasten the item and prevent movement during transport.
