What is output scheduling?

The output is sent by RIP technology. That is, the grid image processor, which can convert graphics, images and text information into a page language that can be understood by various large-format printers or imagesetters to complete the output. It can control printing accuracy, color and format size.

No matter what kind of RIP, there are two techniques for converting electronic files into printing languages: one is color separation; the other is screening. The color separation is generally four colors, and sometimes there are more spot colors. RIP is divided into hardware and software. The hardware RIP is built into the printer imagesetter or a dedicated hardware RIP chassis; the software RIP includes the software main body and various device drivers. The main body of the software realizes rasterization, and the formed image file is sent to the corresponding external device for output by a specific device driver. Hardware RIP is generally not flexible enough. The machine can only be used for sending, not for other uses, and once the host has a problem, it is not easy to maintain; while the software RIP is flexible, the machine can be used for other purposes. When there is a problem with the host, you can reinstall the RIP software if you change the host. So the software RIP is more convenient to use.

Most used software

There are two types of RIP on the market. One is the PSPNT RIP series from Peking University Founder; the other is the Express RIP series from Harlequin. Founder's PSPNT RIP is very convenient when printing PS files generated by Feiteng or wits. Specially generate PS files, very fast. As long as you bring the picture path when printing, you can successfully complete the printing. However, the dots generated by it are sometimes false and not real enough; it is very troublesome when printing and generating PS files on the Mac. Sometimes, it is impossible to print at all. And in the lower version, color preview is not available for files printed on the Mac. This problem was not solved until the latest Founder Century RIP was launched. However, the dot matrix information at the time of preview, but cannot be stored. The outlets generated by Harlequin's Express RIP are much more real and clear. Regardless of whether it is an Apple or a PC, the layout files on it can be sent out and printed, and can be printed directly, without the intermediate link of generating PS files. Of course, it cannot print PS files generated by wits or Feiteng.

Difficulties in profile output:

â‘ The problem of black version hollowing

After the black version is hollowed out, the black text is not directly pressed on the background color, and there is exposed white around the text strokes. Because the text is reflected on each color version, plus the temperature changes in the printing workshop, the paper will expand and contract, making the overprint inaccurate and affecting the printing effect. In order to avoid this phenomenon, in the layout, choose not to hollow out or black imprint in the corresponding options.

â‘¡ Convert RGB mode to CMYK mode

The consequence of this is that only the black version of the color separation sheet has the same grayscale image from the image or the four color versions, rather than the required color image. So be sure to check whether the image in the layout is in CMYK mode before sending it out. In addition, it should be noted that after processing the image in Photoshop and merging the layers, the channel must be deleted. Otherwise, the image information will be missing when sending out.

â‘¢The problem of bold font

This problem appears in Freehand and Pagemaker. If the Chinese font in Freehand uses heavy, most of the time it will produce ambiguous characters when the film is produced; while the Chinese in PM uses bold, it must be a toothed overlapping word. Similarly, other font effects in PM will also have problems. To avoid the above problems, the first thing is to try to use the corresponding text in bold, such as bold Song or big black. If there is no corresponding bold type, you can use fill and stroke in Freehand. But there is an experience, and the added word side cannot exceed 3% of the original font size. If the font itself is bold, this ratio is even smaller.

â‘£Gray net during black overprint

If there is a gray net during overprinting, the objects under the gray net will pass through. Others should also pay attention to specify overprint in the file, because the current version of the software can not see which objects have been overprinted. The solution to this problem is to add 1% yellow when defining gray.

⑤ Misuse of JPEG compression format

The consequence is that there is an image on the screen, and the image is missing after output. The solution is to re-store as TIFF or EPS format in Photoshop.

â‘¥The problem of zooming

Now, it is very convenient for the typesetting software to zoom the picture, but the price is multiple output time. So be sure to set the size and resolution in the image processing software before placing it in the typesetting software.

⑦ Wrong use of DCS format

This has three different consequences. One is that there is a picture in the black-and-white print, but there is no picture on the output film; second, when the color is printed, the printed color picture becomes a black and white picture; and the third is that although the print is a color picture, it is very rough. The reason for the phenomenon 1 is that there is only the main file at the time of output, but there is no color separation file; the second is because the main file contains only a low resolution grayscale image; the third is the main file contains only a low resolution color image. Therefore, unless there is a particularly good reason or a good understanding of DCS, do not use the DCS format.

⑧ Wrong use of EPS tape net

The consequence is that when a certain network cable is output, there are some picture nets on the film that are not correct. The reason for this problem is that when saving the image in EPS format, the band screening information is selected. So don't move this option at will when saving EPS. Of course, the EPS network function can achieve some special effects, such as line network effect or intentionally using different network cables in the same layout to achieve special purposes.

⑨Incorrect use of "pattern-pattern" filling tool

Freehand has a pattern filling function that can fill regular patterns within a certain graphic range. Such patterns are dot matrix. The early-stage level I RIP imagesetter does not support this filling output, and the level II imagesetter can output. But one thing to note is that it is not possible to set colors other than the ground. If you try to set a color of M30% and Y30%, although it is displayed on the screen, the output must be 100% M and Y red.

â‘© Questions about fonts

Sometimes the lack of fonts on the publishing machine results in fewer words on the film. This requires preparation when designing and producing, and turning text into curves or paths. If the text has special effects, you should make the effect first, and then turn it into a curve or path. Pay attention to input characters, try to use the Chinese characters of GB input method and GB internal code. For numbers and English characters, English fonts are selected. When the software has the function of aligning the left and right of the text, try not to use spaces to move the word. If you must use spaces, use English spaces. Be careful with punctuation marks. Simplified Chinese punctuation is below the characters, and traditional Chinese punctuation is in the middle of the characters.
