2015 Fuzhou Body Expo exhibitors or a record high

As of April 6, 2015, the Fuzhou Body Expo is making great strides in its preparations, with 37 days left before the event opens. One of the key tasks during this phase—audience recruitment—is now nearing completion. Organizers are confident that visitor numbers will see a steady increase this year compared to last year’s Wuhan Sports Fair. According to Wen Jia, deputy director of the Equipment Center Exhibition Department under the State Administration of Equipment, the growth in attendance is not just a one-time boost but a natural progression. He pointed out that from Chengdu to Beijing and then to Wuhan, the number of attendees has been rising annually, largely due to the expo’s growing influence and improved promotional efforts. While Fuzhou's southern location may limit direct flight options and potentially affect some visitors' willingness to attend, Wen remains optimistic. He emphasized that Fujian Province is a major hub for sports equipment manufacturing, and local companies account for 10% of the exhibitors. These firms are expected to bring in regional buyers, helping to offset any potential drop in overall attendance. Additionally, the Fujian Provincial Government is showing strong support for the event. With the Youth Games also being held in Fuzhou this year, officials have invited representatives from the education, sports, and commerce sectors to attend and make purchases on-site. The recent State Council policy promoting the national sports industry has also boosted interest among local buyers, further contributing to the anticipated rise in visitor numbers. On the domestic front, the organizers have focused on expanding registration channels to attract more professional visitors. Previously, they relied on paper invitations, but this year, they’ve introduced online bulk email campaigns, SMS reminders, and even WeChat and mobile registration options. This effort aims to increase pre-registration rates and build a comprehensive database of professional audiences, enabling more effective data management and personalized services in the future. Li Hua, vice chairman of the China Sporting Goods Industry Federation, highlighted the importance of data collection and analysis. He stressed that leveraging user data will allow the expo to offer tailored experiences for attendees. As Wen Jia noted, the focus has shifted from merely collecting data to integrating it into strategic planning, which helps guide future improvements. In terms of international participation, the expo faced challenges in attracting overseas visitors due to economic issues in Europe and the closure of several foreign exhibition search engines. However, organizers managed to overcome these obstacles using limited resources and still met their expectations. Many Fujian-based exhibitors have established strong relationships with distributors in Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, ensuring continued international attendance. To enhance the experience for overseas guests, the organizing committee has arranged free hotel accommodations for VIP visitors and invited them to exclusive events. A dedicated translation company has also been hired to assist with language barriers, and all signage in the exhibition area will be available in both Chinese and English. Overall, the Fuzhou Body Expo continues to evolve, demonstrating professionalism and adaptability in an increasingly competitive market.
