Consumers want to know the product source or ingredient information on the food label. This result is obtained from a survey conducted by the German Consumer Centers Association. 61% of respondents expressed the desire to directly print the ingredient list on the front of the product packaging; 78% expressed that they would like to print directly on the front of the product packaging; 86% of the respondents expressed the hope that the net weight of the product packaging frontal printing; nearly half (54%) It is hoped that the details of the source of the front-side printing product will be packaged, such as whether the country of origin or the product is the property itself.

“Consumers want to understand at a glance what he actually bought,” said Klaus Müller, a sensible member of the German Consumers Association. Therefore, the important information of the product must be printed "concisely and clearly on the front of the package." 72% of a total of 1,500 respondents said that food manufacturers are obliged to provide accurate product sources. Ninety-seven percent of respondents are more confident in identifying the product source. Therefore, consumer associations require a unified source label. The current regulations only require mandatory labeling of very few products, such as fresh pork or fresh fruits and vegetables. Consumers mainly want to know the source of animal foods.

According to the German new food labeling law, from December 13, 2014, all food manufacturers will be required to provide more accurate product source information. However, this food source information does not necessarily require printing on the front of the package.
