Domestic private capital enters the packaging and printing industry

China’s private capital is making its foray into the packaging and printing industry. Entrepreneurs are now ambitiously planning to build a large-scale Asian packaging center.

Jin Xiangzuo, vice president of the China Packaging Technology Association, recently told Xinhua News Agency that the overall plan for the Asian packaging center to be built in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, has recently been completed and investment will soon begin. They hope to build a platform for China's packaging industry to integrate into economic globalization, and to strengthen joint ventures and cooperation between domestic and international packaging companies worldwide.


At the same time, Jin Xiangzuo, chairman of Wenzhou Jintai Group, a privately-owned company, said that the construction funds will be raised through the market and attract foreign investment. The initial plan is to establish a sub-package company with a share capital of 1 billion yuan. Investors have expressed interest in investing in this.

The sub-package center's production base will be located in Wenzhou, south of Zhejiang. The Wenzhou municipal government is planning to build an international packaging industrial park in Wenzhou that will attract 10 million square kilometers of investment for the entire world. The investment will be 22 billion yuan and it will be completed in 6-8 years. Wenzhou City has a large number of people and a large number of land resources. However, the government has included this project in the overall planning for urban development in the 21st century.

Wenzhou people are known for their entrepreneurial spirit. There are more than 10,000 private packaging companies in the Wenzhou area, which is China's hometown for packaging and printing. The total output value of the packaging industry is as high as 18 billion yuan.

However, the most developed city in China's packaging and printing industry is Shanghai. As the largest commercial city in China and an international metropolis in Shanghai, the output value of the packaging and printing industry reached 18.7 billion yuan in 2001, ranking first among large cities in the country, but they are scattered among more than 2,600 enterprises.

“After joining the WTO, foreign packaging companies will enter China in large quantities. This poses great challenges to China's packaging industry, which is separate, fragmented and separate from production and sales.” said Li Xiaohang, chairman of the Shanghai Packaging Technology Association. “Therefore, an integration of production and sales. The emergence of integrated industrial bases and business center areas for communication with domestic and foreign packaging printing has become an urgent need for the Shanghai packaging and printing industry."

In order to meet this demand, a Shanghai international packaging city project covering an area of ​​600 mu and a total investment of 800 million yuan, which integrates the functions of scientific research incubation, packaging logistics, and e-commerce, was officially started construction last month.

Qian Chengxi, a private entrepreneur who has invested in this project, is also from Wenzhou. Qian Chengxi, who is now chairman of Shanghai Jinrong Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., said he believes that “the output value of the Chinese packaging industry will double again in the next 10 years and become one of the fastest growing industries”.

Statistics show that China's packaging industry has shown a rapid development trend in the past 10 years. The total output value of the packaging and printing industry is about 402 billion renminbi, and the average annual increase rate is 18%. At present, in the 40 major industries of the national economy, the packaging and printing industry has risen to the 12th place, which belongs to the “sunrise industry”.
