Introduction of new PET resin ActiTUF

The Italian company M&G (Mossi & GHISOLFI) has successfully developed a new type of PET resin called ActiTUF, which has higher performance than ordinary PET packaging materials.

ActiTUF is a new series of PET resins with active or passive gas barrier that can be used as a single layer in container production. Active barrier properties are achieved through M&G's own oxygen scavenging technology; passive barrier properties can be produced using ethylene dicarboxylate or using M&G's proprietary polymer additive technology. It is said that barrier resins for single-layer containers will accelerate PET as the first packaging material for oxygen-sensitive beverages. The Belgian company Interbrew believes that the ActiTUF technology guarantees the freshness and quality of beer and has announced its use in beer packaging called Pivopack.

M&G executives believe that their customers are beneficiaries and that existing equipment can be used to avoid capital expenditures. And because of its excellent performance, this kind of resin is 15-30 cents/lb higher than ordinary PET, which can bring considerable profits.
