Note: The overall size of the carton refers to the sum of its length, width and height. Among them, Category 1 boxes are mainly used for the transportation and packaging of export and valuables; Type 2 boxes are mainly used for the transportation and packaging of domestic sales products; Type 3 boxes are mainly used for the transportation and packaging of short-distance and low-priced products.
2 basic box type and code number see Appendix A
2.1 The box type code specified in this standard consists of four digits. The diagram in Appendix A shows the basic style of various cartons. Each diagram has a four-digit code. The first two digits in the code indicate the box type and the last two. The digits represent different cartons in the same type of box.
2.1.1 slotted carton (02 type)
The most commonly used outer packaging carton consists of a piece of corrugated cardboard. The seam is sealed and made into a carton by nailing or gluing. The top and bottom flaps (commonly known as the upper and lower flaps) constitute the bottom of the box and Cover. It can be folded flat when transported and sealed when used.

The box composed of a few sheets of box blanks is characterized in that the box body is separated from the box lid (top lid, bottom lid). When used, the box lid and the box body are sleeved.
2.1.3 folding type (04 type)
Usually composed of a piece of corrugated cardboard, folded into the bottom of the box, without nailing or bonding.
2.2 It may also be manufactured in accordance with other types as required by the ordering contract.
3 Carton attachments In order to improve the protection of the contents, it is allowed to use carton attachments such as partitions, cushions, bases, and die-cutting parts. The types and numbers of these attachments are shown in Appendix B. In the specific product box technical documents, the types, code numbers, and materials, sizes, and structures of the accessories used shall be specified.
4 Size regulations
4.1 The length, width and height of the carton are used to indicate the size of the carton. The dimensions are given in the following order and code, in millimeters.
a. Length (L): the length of the long side of the bottom area in the box;
b. Width (B): short-side dimension of the bottom area in the box;
c. Height (H): top to bottom dimensions in the box;
4.2 Depending on the weight and size of the contents, the following outer dimensions of the bottom area specified in GB4892-85 “hard cubical transport slack size series” are preferred: 400×600; 400×300; 400×200; 400×150; 300×200 300×133; 300×100; 200×150; 200×133.
Other dimensions can also be selected based on the characteristics of the packaged item.
4.3 The ratio of length and width of the box is recommended to be no more than 2.5:1; the ratio of height to width should not be greater than 2:1 and not less than 0.15:1.
5 Technical requirements
5.1 The interior weight, overall size and corresponding cardboard types of the carton shall meet the requirements of Table 1 and Table 2.
5.2 The corrugated board used in the manufacture of corrugated boxes is shown in Table 2. The technical specifications shall comply with the requirements of GB6544-86 "Corrugated board".
