Caroline's father, John, founded Laurysen Kitchens back in 1970. "I've got sawdust in my veins," she joked during the segment.

1. Back in 1970, dark-stained oak wood with cathedral doors was all the rage. Nowadays, painted MDF and matte or glossy melamine are more common. Door styles tend to be simpler—slab, recessed, or raised panels—making them not only stylish but also easier to clean.
2. Push latch doors are gaining traction. They eliminate the need for handles while maintaining that sleek aesthetic many homeowners crave. Bi-fold and sliding options are also trending.
3. For flooring, large, durable tiles are proving their longevity. While engineered hardwood and porcelain tiles remain favorites, resilient vinyl tiles are becoming increasingly popular due to their durability.
4. Base cabinet drawers are essential—they bring the storage to you, which is especially beneficial as we see an aging population who may find traditional cabinets less accessible.
