Love Hearts Valentine’s Day Slime

In the UK, Valentine's Day isn't typically a time for kids to exchange presents with friends. However, last year my twins became absolutely obsessed with slime, and they kept asking if we could make some together. I thought this would be a great chance to get creative and come up with something fun, so we decided to make some slime with a Love Heart theme. The results were adorable! We started by making a clear slime base using clear PVA glue. To do this, we combined one cup of clear PVA glue with a teaspoon of baking soda, then gradually added contact lens solution until the mixture stopped being too sticky. From there, we added some food coloring to give our slime a pop of color. We went with pastel shades—green, pink, blue, and purple—to match the colors of Love Hearts candies. We didn't follow any strict recipe; instead, we played around with the ingredients until we got the consistency right. Once the slime was ready, we split it into different batches and added the food coloring, leaving one batch completely clear. It was a lot of fun experimenting with the colors! To package our slime as gifts, we picked up some tiny heart-shaped pots from Amazon. These little containers are super cute, and the lids fit tightly, which solved an issue we'd faced before—slime leaking everywhere when given as a present. It’s always a bit embarrassing when your gift turns into a sticky mess! For an extra touch, we used Sharpies to write simple messages on the lids of each pot. While working on this project, we even enjoyed eating some Love Hearts candies ourselves to see what messages they had on them. It added a nice personal element to the whole thing. This idea could easily work for Conversation Hearts in the U.S., too. Unlike Love Hearts, which have a circular shape with a heart inside, Conversation Hearts are already heart-shaped, making them a perfect match for this project. The final product turned out incredibly soft and stretchy, almost like a pastel rainbow. I couldn’t help but admire how beautiful it looked, especially with the different colored slimes glistening under the light.
