As a space dedicated to social justice, the project honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s description of the union as "the authentic conscience of the labor movement."
In Beirut, the Aïshti Foundation presents a unique challenge: integrating fashion boutiques, a curated bookshop, restaurants, cafes, a spa, and a rooftop bar into a single mixed-use complex. The site, facing an enhanced seaside promenade created through land reclamation and playful landscaping, invites visitors inside. The juxtaposition of art and commerce prompted Adjaye Associates to develop an entirely new architectural typology that bridges these often-conflicting worlds, creating a lively architectural dialogue.
The UK Holocaust Memorial & Learning Center in London, located next to the Houses of Parliament, is a powerful tribute to the six million Jewish people murdered in the Holocaust and all other victims of Nazi persecution. Co-located with a Learning Center, the memorial uses the stories and facts of the Holocaust to explore antisemitism, extremism, Islamophobia, racism, homophobia, and other forms of hatred and prejudice in today's society. It asks profound questions about societal roles and institutional responsibilities in fostering respect and preventing hate.
In New York, 130 William is the firm's first high-rise residential tower in the United States. At 800 feet tall with 66 stories, it is an elegant addition to the Manhattan skyline, offering 242 luxury condominiums, retail spaces, health clubs, fitness centers, movie theaters, outdoor terraces, a rooftop observatory, and a public plaza park. Designed as a vertical microcity, 130 William redefines the concept of urban living and community within a vertical environment.
In Sydney, the George Street Plaza Building reconnects with the lost history and heritage of the area, celebrating the Eora origins of coastal Sydney. The project seeks to reconcile cultures and define identity in a rapidly changing world, emphasizing the complex relationships between colonizers and indigenous communities. Drawing inspiration from Aboriginal place-making traditions, the design envisions a multifunctional community hub and plaza as a symbolic shelter—a place of respite and discovery.
Finally, the Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi brings together a mosque, a synagogue, and a church atop a secular visitor pavilion. This interfaith community aims to foster peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among different beliefs, nationalities, and cultures. Each house of worship offers opportunities to observe services, listen to holy texts, and participate in sacred rituals.
