Creo Introduces New Adobe Acrobat Plug-in for Flexo Printing

At the recent FFTA INFO*FLEX2005 exhibition in Orlando, USA, Creo demonstrated the new Adobe Acrobat plug-in for the Creo Prinergy Powerpack workflow management system. The powerful plug-in tool enables flexible printing platesetters and processors to significantly save prepress time, speed up job rotation, and increase the quality and stability of package printing.

PDF Compare and PDF Merge

PDF comparisons and PDF merges are two new and innovative tools that can significantly reduce the time and cost required for the correction process in the packaging workflow. In the preparation of a single-page manuscript, temporary modifications are often encountered, which will lead to a re-production of the document to be printed. The PDF comparison and PDF merge functions provide a simple solution to this problem: the prepress operator compares two files, extracts all production jobs (traps, screening, overprint settings, etc.) on the original file, and merges them. All elements eventually form the modified production document. This will ensure that the design and production stream files are up-to-date. This simple-to-use function inserts Prinergy Power Packing Workflow as a plug-in, allowing the platemaking center and the processor to significantly reduce the prepress time, reduce the loss caused by the printing error, and enhance the relationship with the customer.

Trap editor

Due to the variety of packaging substrates and shapes and the extreme tolerances of the presses, trapping has become an extremely challenging task in packaging printing. To solve this problem, Creo launched a new automated plug-in tool for Adobe Acrobat - Advanced Trap Editor. Trapping editors can significantly reduce the manual labor involved in the trapping editors, which can save labor and make prepress more efficient.

DotShop

DotShop is Adobe Acrobat plug-in for Prinergy Power Pack workflow, allowing users to select, customize, and control screening options based on a single object or design file in a PDF file. Through DotShop, prepress operations staff can selectively assign custom screening attributes and tone compensation curves to individual individuals instead of adding to the entire file. This allows the operator to manipulate the label or package in an intelligent way for optimum printing results.
