Chinese building materials on the Russian market

Russians attach great importance to interior decoration. The reporter visited a number of friends in Moscow and found that Russians like to use wallpaper when decorating old houses, and they like to use paint when decorating new homes. In addition to the city's housing, Russians entering the Xiaokang House have villas in the suburbs. This kind of suburban villas are generally wooden houses. Most of the floors, furniture and beds are made of wood, and the decoration is natural. Only the bathroom and kitchen use tiles.

In recent years, Russia has built a large number of resorts and nursing homes. These buildings are even more cost-effective in terms of decoration, and their luxury is no less than that of European and American countries. The Zavidovo Diplomat Resort on the Volga River in Tver is a reflection of recent Russian renovations. The dozens of villas in the resort are all made of wood. The furniture, electrical appliances and kitchen utensils are imported from abroad. Only the firewood used in the fireplace is produced in Russia. After entering the villa, the visitors will immediately have a feeling of returning to the original.

However, light industry has always been a weakness of Russia. Although Russia is rich in timber, some high-end construction timber is imported from abroad. Due to the strong demand in the domestic building materials market in recent years, Russian building materials companies simply cannot meet. According to statistics from relevant Russian departments, in 2002, Russia's imports of insulation materials, doors and windows and flooring accounted for 91%, 55% and 95% of domestic demand, respectively, and imports of cement and plumbing equipment were as high as 60% and 67%. At present, Russian building materials are mainly imported from the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and other countries. Due to the high price, the Russians generally do not dare to care.

China's building materials production process is advanced

Historically, Russians have liked Chinese building materials and have been using them to decorate their homes. There is a Chinese hall in Peterhof in St. Petersburg, and the walls inside are all decorated with Chinese silk paintings. The Russian general Vorontsov built a Chinese room for his wife when he built his own palace. The decorative materials in the room were all from China.

The Russian construction industry places great emphasis on the development of projects with high-tech content and environmental protection functions, and China National Building Materials is unique in this respect, and many of its processes are close to the world's top level. The newly developed high-performance low-heat Portland cement (high belite cement) developed by China Building Materials Science Research Institute has the characteristics of energy saving, environmental protection and resource conservation in the production process. It is the first in China and is also at the international advanced level. . The joint venture between China and Germany will not fade and darken. The national sampling results show that the wear resistance of the floor meets the top European standards.

The biggest feature of Chinese building materials is that they are of high quality and low price, and they are generally about half cheaper than similar products in Europe. According to the Russian building materials website, Chinese marble is much cheaper than Italian marble in terms of price, and it sells only 54-64 dollars per square meter in the Russian market. At the same time, China's marble geometry is better, the size is more ideal, and the color tone is similar to that of Italian marble.

Since the Russian Far East is far from the European economic center, most of the building materials needed to be imported from neighboring countries. In recent years, China National Building Materials has occupied a place in the region. In order to meet the growing demand for building materials, Russian Far East dealers often organize groups to purchase building materials in China. In addition, as Chinese businessmen contracted some construction projects in Russia, objectively they also opened the door for China Building Materials to enter Russia.

In order to seize business opportunities, in early 2003, Harbin Development Zone has decided to establish a comprehensive building materials wholesale market in Hongqi Street, Wusulisk (Shuangchengzi), Primorsky Krai, Russia. After the market is completed, the use area will reach 10,000 square meters, and it is expected to be put into use in April and May of 2004. In addition to the railway special line and warehouse, the market can also provide office and living places for merchants. While actively developing the Far East building materials market, Chinese building materials manufacturers are also working hard to develop the building materials market in Europe. According to reports, some Chinese manufacturers are also preparing to build a 12,000-square-meter Chinese furniture city in St. Petersburg.

China's building materials are still insufficient

Although China Building Materials is popular in Russia, there are still some problems in the marketing process.

First, the operation is scattered and it is impossible to form a joint force. The world-famous Swedish home furnishing giant, IKEA, has opened several chain stores in Moscow. In addition to distributing the company's specialty products, it also operates catering services. While Chinese manufacturers can only fight alone in the Russian building materials market, some building materials manufacturers have opened offices in Russia, but the scale is small, the impact is limited, and the Russian marketing environment is not good, some manufacturers are not willing to expand in Russia. business. Some Chinese manufacturers have tried to sell their products through Russian agents, but the results have not been satisfactory so far.

The second is the lack of features and fist products. At present, some building materials products in China, such as flooring, paint, and plastic steel doors and windows, are mostly produced by Sino-foreign joint ventures. These products cannot compete with European brands in the Russian market.

Therefore, many Russians prefer to buy high-quality European building materials at a high price, and are not willing to buy similar joint venture products in China. According to reports, some time ago, the Russian market had such a phenomenon: some Russians who bought Chinese furniture were branded with Italian brands. In addition, some important building materials in China, such as wood and cement, have no advantage in the Russian market.

Third, China's building materials lack credibility. A few years ago, some Chinese “rebellious” ruined the credibility of China's daily consumer goods, leading some Russians to be skeptical about all Chinese products, which also affected the sales of Chinese building materials in Russia to some extent.
